Editorial Policy

How we research, write, and check our guides.

NewcomerHQ exists to help people move to and settle in Canada with clear, trustworthy information. Our editorial standards are designed so you can rely on what you read here.

Built on official sources

Every guide is researched from primary, authoritative sources — including Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC), CMHC, Statistics Canada, and provincial governments. We link to these sources so you can verify the facts yourself.

Written by specialists

Our guides are produced by writers and editors who each focus on a specific area — money, immigration, study, work, or settling in — so each topic is covered with depth and consistency. You can see who wrote a guide at the top of every article and on their author page.

Fact-checked and dated

Rules, fees, and amounts in Canada change over time. We check the figures in our guides against the current official source before publishing, and we show the month a guide was last reviewed. Where information depends on your personal situation, we say so and direct you to the official body.

Not professional advice

NewcomerHQ provides general information for educational purposes only. We are not a law firm, a licensed immigration consultancy, or a financial adviser, and our content is not legal, immigration, tax, or financial advice. For decisions specific to your case, consult a licensed professional or the relevant official authority.

Corrections

If you spot something that is out of date or incorrect, please tell us at hello@newcomerhq.com and we will review and update it.

Editorial independence

We may earn revenue from advertising. Advertising never influences our research, our recommendations, or which sources we rely on.
